Today’s candle to be lit is the candle of JOY

Today we think about John the Baptist

Jesus said, ‘No one more important than John the Baptist has ever been born;

yet the least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.’

Amen.

Come soon, Lord Jesus!

The first three candles are lit

Jesus is the light of the world.

A light no darkness can ever put out.

Advent Prayer

Holy God as we set out on our Advent journey, give us the courage and perseverance to complete that which have started, in Jesus’s name we pray.

Amen

Collect

O Lord Jesus Christ, who at your first coming sent your messenger to prepare your way before you: grant that the ministers and stewards of your mysteries may likewise so prepare and make ready your way

by turning the hearts of the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, that at your second coming to judge the world we may be found an acceptable people in your sight; for you are alive and reign with the Father in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Post Communion

We give you thanks, O Lord, for these heavenly gifts; kindle in us the fire of your Spirit that when your Christ comes again, we may shine as lights before his face; who is alive and reigns now and for ever. Amen

And Finally

A prayer for winter

We need a winter in our lives,

a time of rest, a time to stand still, a time to reacquaint ourselves with the faith in which we live.

It is only then that we can draw strength from the one in whom we are rooted, take time to grow and rise through the darkness into the warm glow of your springtime

to blossom and flourish bring colour and vitality into this world -

your garden.

Thank you, Father,

for the seasons of our lives
