SERVICE FOR 22nd FEBRUARY

Ash Wednesday

7.00pm Evenley Benefice Holy Communion

Come and mark the beginning of Lent in this quiet communion service of prayer and reflection. There is an opportunity for the imposition of Ashes on your forehead as a symbol of our repentance. The ashes made from burnt palm crosses are administered with the words. From dust you come and to dust you will return, repent of your sins, and turn to Christ. Amen


Please pray for:-

- All those known to us who need our prayers this week

- For all those affected by the earthquake in Turkey & Syria, especially the families of the dead, missing or injured – not forgetting the rescue services.

- For couples preparing to be married this summer.

- For all those struggling with health issues.

- For those awaiting surgery

- For all people worldwide who are affected by unrest, by acts of violence, oppression, or poverty.

As Shrove Tuesday on 21st February is a school evening Carrie and Kevin will be hosting an Open House with pancakes on Sunday 19th February from 3-6pm.

Do pop along for a drink and a sweet pancake anytime during the afternoon.

World Day of Prayer - 3rd March 2.30pm at Hinton-in-the-Hedges

World Day of Prayer (A Women Led, Global, Ecumenical Movement) celebrated in over 120 countries. This year the service has been prepared by the women of TAIWAN. Carrie o’ Regan is leading it, assisted by Lynne Cargill. Everyone is welcome.

Mothering Sunday, Evenley

19th March

St George’s Church, Evenley will again be supporting Baby Basics at our service today.

This country wide charity supports mothers and young babies who are referred to them. We will be collecting baby toiletries and things for the mums. Full list of the items needed to follow.

Looking forward to the next Benefice Holy Communion service for February which is on 19th 10.30am at Hinton. We welcome you all to attend and join in with the celebrations along with friends from our neighbouring churches when we all come together to share prayers and hymns to continue to celebrate the season of Epiphany which lasts until the first Sunday of Lent (26th February)
