Pews News w/c 16th April 2023

A BIG THANK YOU to our Ministry Team

The Churchwardens of the parishes in the Benefice would like to thank our tremendous Ministry Team for providing us with such a full array of services in all our churches during Holy Week, from Palm Sunday through to Easter Day itself. We are very grateful for the services and opportunities you have given us all, for the example you set and the support you give us - not just this last week but for the whole long period since the Reverend Cooper left us last summer. Your efforts are hugely appreciated - thank you."

Collect

Almighty Father, you have given your only Son to die for our sins and to rise again for our justification: grant us so to put away the leaven of malice and wickedness that we may always serve you in pureness of living and truth; through the merits of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.

Amen.

Post Communion

Lord God our Father, through our Saviour Jesus Christ you have assured your children of eternal life and in baptism have made us one with him: deliver us from the death of sin and raise us to new life in your love, in the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Amen.

And finally

On Easter Sunday (9th April) we remembered that it was two years since our beloved Duke of Edinburgh passed away. The following is just one of his famous sayings:-

Finally, on stepping back from his workload on his 90th birthday in 2011:

‘[It’s] better to get out before you reach your sell by date. I reckon I’ve done my bit so I can enjoy myself, less responsibility, less frantic rushing about, less trying to think of something to say… I’m just sort of winding down.’
