Advent is the period of four Sundays and weeks before Christmas to Christmas Day. Advent means 'Coming' in Latin. This is the coming of Jesus into the world. Christians use the four Sundays and weeks of Advent to prepare and remember the real meaning of Christmas.
Now that we are approaching the final weeks of the calendar year, we give thanks for all those preparing for our Christmas services – Our Ministry team, wardens, choirs, organists, readers, church cleaners, flower arrangers, bell ringers & all those that provide help & support.
We pray for those who are sleeping rough and give thanks for those who are caring for them, also for the homeless & those who are on their own this Christmas
For our observation of the season of Advent as we prepare for the Christ Child at Christmas.
For the visits of the travelling cribs as they make their final journey around our villages. We remember those who made a journey a long time ago to a stable in Bethlehem to witness the birth of Jesus.

Collect
Almighty God, give us grace to cast away the works of darkness and to put on the armour of light,
now in the time of this mortal life, in which your Son Jesus Christ came to us in great humility; that on the last day, when he shall come again in his glorious majesty to judge the living and the dead,
we may rise to the life immortal; through him who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Post Communion
O Lord our God, make us watchful and keep us faithful as we await the coming of your Son our Lord; that, when he shall appear, he may not find us sleeping in sin but active in his service and joyful in his praise;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
